Today is going to be one of the hardest days of my life.. and I dont know if I’m going to be able to handle it.. but I need to be there to support you and your family… and to say my last goodbye.

I regret not being able to go to your burial.. and I’d give anything to just go back in time to the week of camp, where we shared such an amazing experience… I love you so much Bryan… and I miss you sooo much. <3

Born two years and a day after me.
Died at only 16, at the hands of a drunk driver.

I had only known this beautiful kid for only 7 days.
All it took were seven days of camping with Bryan for me to build a close bond, a deep connection, and an unconditional love for him. He was a loving kid.

From the moment I met him, he did nothing but make me smile.
I remember on the first day we arrived to his church to pick him up, I asked him his name. Eagerly he responded, “I’m Bryan, what’s yours?” (:

I remember my other friend offering me a drink of his gatorade, and me offering it to Bryan.. well, forcing him to drink it… lol and saying that it was bad luck if only 2 people drank out of one bottle. I had no real reason behind that, but, I just remember his smile, and how it broke the ice between the two of us, in a way where we talked about all kinds of things on our way to Wisconsin.

He told me how he loved to dance. “Hip hop, is my favourite. But I like spanish music too.” He had earbuds in his ear and I asked him if I could listen to the music he was listening to, he shared one with me and it was playing a spanish song.. Bachata. I exclaimed how much I loveee to dance to bachata, and he told me he did too. “When we get to Wisconsin you should dance with me!” is what I told him and his response was, “That’s fine with me as long as you don’t go all professional on me because I’m not all that good with bachata.” I told him not to worry, because neither was I. “You’re my bachata dancing buddy!” I shouted, and he smiled as we continued to listen to music.

I remember halfway through the ride, he asked to see my rings on my fingers, and he really liked my dominican ring. He placed it on his pinky finger and said, “Let me wear this the rest of the trip?” At first I was like, noooooo ): because it is my favourite ring, but I figured maybe just until after the ride and I’ll get it back. So I let him wear it.. He was so happy to be wearing my ring, and he went around telling everyone that he was Dominican even though he wasn’t. With everyday that past I didnt really mind him wearing the ring for a little while longer. When I told him I went to Loyola, he lied and said he did too. I almost believed him when he came to the girls cabin in a Ramblers sweater. He kept repeating to me, “See I told you I’m a Rambler, I told you.” Later that day, I got cold, and asked him for his sweater. He let me wear it, and I kept it on the rest of the day. That night, I told him, “I have your sweater and you have my ring. I’ll let you keep my ring when we leave camp if I can keep your sweater. That way, when we leave this place, we will be forced to see each other again because we have each others stuff… and… yeah.(:” He smiled and told me, “That sounds like a great idea.”

I remember so much more about my week with him. Singing with him, venting to him about my guys troubles. Holding his hand.. Hugging him tight.. joking around, and feeling like “not even like a third wheel, but like the fourth wheel in the trunk of a car.” Lol.. Naming the panda that I slept with all week.. from Pancake, to Pudgy, to Pudgy Pie Pancake, to Pudgy Panda. Creating skits with him… “It’s PANDA PRAISING TIME” letting him rock my Ramblers short shorts in front of the boys LOL Letting him wear my ring and him letting me wear his sweater the ENTIRE week.. and now, forever..

His smile, and his laugh, everything about him will always be trapped in my memory and stored him my heart. I never want to lose the thought of him. I never want to forget him. He is just to great of a person to forget. He was seriously and angel sent to me and taken from me… and my life will never be the same again.
